Where To Stay In Budapest For Sightseeing – District I (Buda)

The best place to stay in Budapest for sightseeing is District I. Also known as Buda or the Castle District. It is the historical part of Budapest with lots of amazing architecture and Buda Castle Hill.

This district is the most beautiful part of Budapest with all its stunning buildings. In District I you will find the Royal Palace, Matthias Church, Fisherman’s Bastion, and more. This district also has one-of-a-kind monuments, great restaurants and bars, and lots of amazing architecture. There are also many places to take amazing photos.

A great place to stay in District I, the Buda District is the Castle Suite Apartments. These apartments are great, they come with a kitchen, bathroom, washer, and daily housekeeping. The suites are very modern inside and also offer views of the city. These apartments are within walking distance of the Budapest History Museum and the Buda Castle.

Another great place to stay in the Buda District is the Kastely Apartments. You get the entire apartment along with a kitchen, bathroom, washer, and some apartments even come with a terrace. Guests have a private entrance where there are cookies and chocolates. The apartments also have an outdoor dining area. Located in a great location close to the Budapest History Museum and the Buda Castle and also within walking distance from the Chain Bridge, and Gellért Hill.

Where Is The Best Area To Stay In Budapest – District V (Belvaros)

The best area to stay in Budapest is District V which is the downtown area also known as Belvaros. District V is located right in the city center and has lots of food and drink establishments in the area.

This district is the center of Budapest and the political, financial, commercial, and touristic center of Hungary. The official name of District V is Belváros-Lipótváros. It is named this because Buda has 2 historical neighborhoods located in the district called Belváros and Lipótváros.

There is lots to see in this area including the one-of-a-kind parliament building right by the Danube River. There are also other great buildings here with amazing architecture and also some art galleries. This district also has many luxury hotels, bars, and restaurants.

The best luxury hotel in District V in Budapest is Aria Hotel Budapest by Library Hotel Collection. This amazing hotel has a beautiful rooftop bar with the best views of Budapest. It also has a spa, an indoor pool, and saunas. The bathrooms here are stunning with walk-in showers, also you get robes, slippers, and toiletries with your stay. The hotel is close to St. Stephem’s Basilica and the State Opera.

Another great hotel to stay in District V in Budapest is the Hotel Central Basilica. This hotel is also great but is more budget-friendly while still being luxurious. The rooms are very clean and cozy, and the staff is amazing. It is within walking distance of St. Stephen’s Basilica. Another great option for cheaper accommodation with all the bells and whistles.

Where To Stay In Budapest Close To Theatres – District VI (Terezvaros)

District VI is also known as Terezvaros which is another great neighborhood in Budapest. This district is home to the Hungarian State Opera and many other theaters and restaurants. This area has a street called Nagymezo Street which is known as Budapest’s Broadway and has many theaters located here.

Andrassy Avenue is a street in this area that has rows of trees and it leads into Heros’ Square. Here there are lots of bars, restaurants, and cafes along with boutiques and food vendors. Great place for nightlife in Budapest.

Budapest Central Andrassy Apartments are a great place to stay in District VI. These apartments include a kitchen and a washer which is great if you are looking to make meals at home. The apartments are located close to the Hungarian State Opera, Dohany Street Synagogue, St. Stephen’s Basilica, House Of Terror, and downtown. Lots of great boutiques around and bars and restaurants.

Another great place to stay is the Little Luxury Apartment. This apartment has free wifi, a kitchen with a fridge, kettle, microwave, and toaster, a flat-screen tv with cable, and a bathroom. It is in a great location within walking distance to Blaha Lujza Square, and St. Stephens’s Basilica. And just a short drive to Dohany Street Synagogue, the Hungarian National Museum, and the Hungarian Parliament Buildings.

Where To Stay In Budapest For Nightlife – District VII (Erzsebetvaros)

District VII in Budapest is also known as Erzsebetvaros. It is located on the Pest side of the Danube River. This area has lots of Jewish History and was once part of the Jewish ghetto. The vibe in this area is very modern and current, making it a great place for nightlife.

In this area, you will for the Moorish Grand Synagogue, food trucks, some shops, street art, and ruin pubs. Great area to stay in if you are traveling alone or just looking to meet new people in a great chill atmosphere. Also, the bar scene in this area is fantastic and always booming.

A great place to stay in Budapest’s District VII is Bo33 Hotel Family & Suites. This amazing hotel has so many great amenities including a rooftop relaxing center, champagne buffet breakfast, a sauna, a steam bath, a hot tub, and amazing rooms. This hotel is close to the Keleti Railway Station, Andrassy Avenue, and the Hungarian State Opera.

Another great place to stay in District VII is the Rose Garden Apartments. These apartments are located very close to the city center and are also equipped with a kitchenette. There are also options for family suites which is great. The apartments are very modern, clean, and cozy.

Where To Stay In Budapest On A Budget – District VIII (Jozsefvraos)

Budapest’s District VIII is also known as Jozsefvaros. District VIII is unique because it has 2 parts to it. One is the Jozsefvaros part which is the older more run-down part and the other part is the Palace District which is one of the most beautiful parts of Budapest.

District VIII is home to the Hungarian National Museum. This museum is surrounded by beautiful gardens and lakes. Although this District wouldn’t be the preferred District to stay in while in Budapest for many since it is still a little run down and not as developed as the other parts, it is great if you are traveling on a budget. There are many places to stay in this district and you can always get an Uber or catch a bus to the other areas.

A great place to stay while in the Jozsefvaros area is Triple M Motel. This budget-friendly hotel is super cute modern, and clean and would be my top choice for accommodation in this area. It is located very close to a shopping center and grocery store in Budapest. This is great if you are looking to make meals at home before heading out, therefore, saving more money. Also, there are many bars and restaurants located in the area.

Where To Stay In Budapest For A Local Experience – District IX (Ferencvaros)

District IX in Budapest is also known as Ferencvaros. This area has a great cultural scene and is a very up-and-coming area. A big part of this District is the Great Market Hall. The Great Market Hall has lots of items like fruits, vegetables, cold cuts, souvenirs, and much much more. It is located near the Danube and has many bars, and restaurants with amazing views.

The best place to stay in District IX is the City Home Near Danube. This is an entire apartment that has garden views, a patio, and a sun terrace. The apartment is airconditioned, with a full kitchen, dishwasher, and coffee machine. Located just a short drive from the Hungarian National Museum, Gellert Hill, and Blaha Lujza Square.

Another great place to stay is Hotel Millennium. This hotel is very casual and has options for family rooms, there is a restaurant and bar on site which is very convenient. The rooms are clean and tidy and the staff is lovely. Also in a great location with access to the Metro station which is very close.
