Berlin has all 4 seasons so there are better times to visit than others. May to Septemeber is the best time to visit Berlin. It is the summer season and the weather is perfect. The temperate is very comfortable, there is a better chance of sun in these summer months, and the days are the longest during these months as well.
If you are looking to visit Berlin when it’s not tourist season and still have decent weather then you need to visit between March to May or September to October. This is just before tourist season and just after tourist season. The weather is just a little bit cooler but you can experience Berlin without the crowds and it may be a more pleasant experience, especially if traveling with a family and kids.
Berlin has many great places to stay. One of the best places is The Westin Grand Berlin. This very fancy hotel is located in the Mitte area of Berlin which is the city center and perfect if you are on a time crunch. It has great city views, a spa, elegant comfortable rooms, a high-end lobby with a grand staircase, and a restaurant and bar. The Hotel is within walking distance of Potsdamer Platz, the Berlin TV Tower, the Natural History Museum, the Alexanderplatz Memorial of the Berlin Wall, the Holocaust Memorial, and more. Located central to many great attractions.
Another great hotel to stay at in the Mitte area is the Hotel Adlon Kempinski Berlin. This hotel is super luxurious with a double Michelin-star restaurant inside and a shopping area as well. Start your 2-day Berlin itinerary by visiting the Brandenburg Gate is the most famous attraction in Berlin and it is also a very important part of Germany’s history. It symbolizes the German division during the Cold War. It is now also a symbol of peace and unity. The Gate contains so much history and is an iconic landmark in Berlin that many tourists come to see.
Then head to the Reichstag Building the German Parliament Building. It is the most recognizable government building in Europe and even the world. This building has a very interesting history. It was completed in 1894 but then unfortunately was destroyed by a devastating fire in 1933. It was eventually restored into an architectural wonder and is very important to Germany’s government. Take a stroll through Tiergarten Park which is located in the Tiergarten district of Berlin. This beautiful urban park is the largest inner-city park in Germany. In the center of Tiergarten Park, you will find the Victory Column. The Victory Column is a famous landmark and monument to commemorate victories for Germany against, France, Denmark, and Austria from 1864 and 1871.
Spend the rest of the afternoon in Alexanderplatz in Berlin, a large public square that is the transportation hub for Berlin. It has lots of shopping and restaurants in the area. Alexanderplatz is also a historic site in Berlin. It is where street fighting happened during the March Revolution, just before the fall of the Berlin Wall.

Start the evening off by visiting Museum Island one of the most amazing museum complexes in Europe, and it is considered a UNESCO World Heritage Site. There are 5 museums located on Museum Island: Pergamon Museum, Neues Museum, Bode Museum, Altes Museum, and Alte Nationalgalerie.
The most popular is the Pergamon Museum which showcases monumental buildings like the Ishtar Gate of Babylon, the Pergamon Altar, and more. It was the central site for the planning and management of most of the Nazi crime regimes. It shows photos and documents from World War II and the crimes that were committed.
Continue the afternoon by visiting a very sad part but important part of history the Holocaust Memorial. It is a memorial of the murdered Jews during World War II. The memorial has 2711 concrete structures all of the different heights and it is a place of remembrance and commemoration for up to six million Jewish victims of the Holocaust. A very important part of history and a must-see when in Berlin.
Checkpoint Charlie was known as the crossing between East Berlin and West Berlin during the Cold War. The Soviet tanks and the American tanks briefly faced each other at this location during the Berlin Crisis of 1961. Around Checkpoint Charlie there are lots of restaurants and shopping as well. A perfect way to end your 2 days in Berlin is by grabbing a nice dinner and grabbing some souvenirs.
