This itinerary will take you day by day for 10 days starting in Barcelona and Madrid Spain then going all the way to Toledo and Seville Spain, and ending in beautiful Lisbon and Porto Portugal. Start your 10-day itinerary of Spain and Portugal by arriving in beautiful Barcelona. Barcelona is filled with beautiful cobblestone streets, Gaudi’s masterpieces, beautiful beach bliss, culinary delights, and one-of-a-kind architecture. Start your first day off by heading to the Gothic Quarter walking through all the streets and checking out the amazing architecture there is.
After head to Park Guell. Park Guell is not just a park it’s an iconic landmark in Barcelona. It was designed by Gaudi and has acres and acres of beautiful gardens shaped through nature, archways, galleries, and artificial structures.
After visiting Park Guell head to the Sagrada Familia which is just a short walk away. Sagrada Familia was designed by the artist Gaudi and is the largest unfinished Roman Catholic church in the world. It is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and is well known all over the world. This amazing cathedral has the most iconic architecture and design in the world. A must-see when visiting Barcelona.
In the evening head to the Passeig de Gracia which is Barcelona’s most iconic avenue. Filled with great shopping opportunities with high-end designer shops, boutiques, souvenir shops, and much more. Also, be sure to check out the amazing architecture along the street especially Gaudi’s masterpiece the Casa Batllo.
Start day 2 in Barcelona by exploring the Montjuic Hill area. You have to climb to the top of Montjuic Hill either by walking, by car, or the best option by cable car. At the top, you will see the panoramic views of Barcelona and the water, the beaches, and the ports, it is just absolutely breathtaking. Along with the stunning views of Barcelona be sure to visit the Montjuic Castle and learn about all its history, also the castle has an amazing viewpoint where you can see Barcelona from above.
In the afternoon go to Barcelona Beach and enjoy the beautiful boardwalk, the soft sand, and the warm and refreshing water. Along the beach, there are lots of restaurants and places to grab a cold drink and enjoy the beach.
After the beach check out The National Art Museum of Catalonia. Spend the afternoon here exploring the largest collection of Catalan art in the world. Also has lots of different types of artwork like unique sculptures, one-of-a-kind paintings, amazing drawings, engravings, photography, and even coin collections.
End the day indulging in tapas and drinks. Tapas are popular in Spain, they are a combination of delicious snacks and appetizers served together. Tapas are normally items like mixed olives, fried baby squid, meatballs, any other seafood, crispy potatoes, dips, and chorizo. But can include many other items as well. Pair a fun drink like sangria with your tapas and relax.
Some great places to stay in Barcelona are The One Barcelona GL and Hotel Indigo Barcelona – Plaza Catalunya, an IHG Hotel. Both are in a great location and close to many Barcelona attractions.
After visiting Barcelona, make your way to Madrid, Spain. Madrid is the capital of Spain and is known for its rich culture and bustling atmosphere. Once you’ve arrived in Madrid head to the Royal Palace of Madrid and explore the Plaza Mayor. The Royal Palace of Madrid is the official residence of the Spanish Royal Family, and is now used for state ceremonies. It is the largest palace in Europe and has the Royal Armoury, the Throne Rooms, and an amazing Grand Staircase. Enjoy the surrounding gardens and beautiful architecture.
Plaza Mayor is just s short walk from the Royal Palace and brings you right to the heart of Madrid. The Plaza is a bustling hub surrounded by lots of activity, beautiful buildings, shopping, outdoor cafes, and more. Check out the statue of King Philip III in the center of the square.
Once you’ve explored the Royal Palace of Madrid and Plaza Mayor on the first day in Madrid, head to some famous museums in the morning and afternoon. Check out the Prado Museum to see stunning masterpieces by Goya and Velazquez. Also, check out the Reina Sofia Museum to see more art including Picasso’s Guernica.
After seeing some history in the museums of Madrid check out the Santiago Bernabeu Stadium. The Santiago Bernabeu Stadium is where the football team Real Madrid plays. You can take a tour of the entire stadium including the locker rooms, the press rooms, the hallways, and the museum which features all the history of the Real Madrid teams over the years. Really cool experience.
Enjoy the rest of the day in Madrid by walking through Retiro Park along the lake, and enjoying some delicious food and tapas in the La Latina district. This area has a very lively nightlife and there is so much to see and do.
Some great places to stay in Madrid are UMusic Hotel Madrid and Hyatt Centric Gran Via Madrid. These are both stunning hotels, that are close to attractions, and offer many amenities as well.
On day 5 of your 10-day itinerary of Spain and Portugal make your way down to Toledo, Spain. Toledo is a UNESCO World Heritage Site that is known for its medieval architecture and great historical significance. Start the morning at the Toledo Cathedral and the Alcazar of Toledo. Both of these offer stunning views of Toledo and they offer so much Spanish history that is very interesting.
After learning some Spanish history make your way to the Jewish Quarter where you can walk through the little neighborhood and visit the Synagogue of Santa Maria la Blanca, and the El Greco Museum to see famous artworks by some famous painters and artists.
Spend the evening exploring the neighborhoods and enjoying the architecture that surrounds the whole city. Grab some dinner and drinks and enjoy the beautiful views.
Great places to stay in Toledo are Parador de Toledo and Hotel Hacienda del Cardenal. Perfect location, and cozy comfortable rooms.
After spending day 5 in Toledo, head to Seville early in the morning. Start the morning off by visiting the majestic Seville Cathedral and the Giralda Tower. The views from the top of the tower are magical and breathtaking.
Take a walk through Alcazar of Seville which is a palace complex that has beautiful gardens and amazing architecture. After exploring the Alcazar of Seville visit the Plaza de Espana. This is a beautiful square that is filled with tiled alcoves that resemble each Spanish province. Such a beautiful place to visit.
Afterward, head to the Guadalquivir River which has one-of-a-kind views of the city and is a great place to enjoy a peaceful walk along the river.
After lots of walking and sightseeing in Seville enjoy a flamenco show in the Triana neighborhood. This area is known for having a great nightlife scene, amazing restaurants, vibrant bars, and great tapa spots.
When in Seville stay at Hotel Lobby, Hotel Kivir, and Vincci Molviedro. These are all stunning accommodations and they all have beautiful views of the beach and surrounding areas.
After exploring beautiful Spain take a short flight or train ride to Lisbon, Portugal. Lisbon is the capital of Portugal and it’s known for its traditional and contemporary culture, and the city blends old-world charm and modern charm. Start the day off by exploring the Alfama District. This is the oldest District in Lisbon and the area has so much wonderful charm, cobbled streets, colorful buildings, a mazelike layout, and more. Enjoy some souvenir shopping, music venues, beautiful viewpoints and so much more.
Then head to Sao Jorge Castle. Located on top of Lisbon’s seven hills, the castle offers a look into the city’s Moorish past. The castle has the best views of the Tagus River and Lisbon.
After enjoying some breathtaking views of Lisbon head to the Bairro Alto neighborhood to finish off the day. This neighborhood is famous for its vibrant nightlife and restaurants, bars, and clubs. Enjoy some music and Portuguese food.
Start day 8 or your 10-day itinerary of Spain and Portugal by heading to Lisbon’s Belem District. Take a look at the Jeronimos Monastery which is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Then head to the Belem Tower which is also a UNESCO World Heritage Site. This fortress once guarded the entrance to Lisbon’s harbor. The top of the tower has amazing panoramic views of Lisbon and the Tagus River.
In the afternoon check out the Lisbon Oceanarium. This is one of the world’s largest aquariums and it has a variety of marine life including sharks, rays, tropical fish, many fish species, and more. After enjoying the aquarium head to Vasco da Gama Tower for more stunning panoramic views of Lisbon.
End the day off by experiencing some authentic cultural experiences in the Alfama District like listening to Fado Music, enjoying a traditional Portuguese dinner, and enjoying some delicious drinks.
Great places to stay in Lisbon are Browns Central Hotel and Hotel Mundial. Amazing hotels and both are located close to the city center.
After enjoying beautiful Lisbon, end your 10-day itinerary of Spain and Portugal by visiting Porto. Porto is located in the north of Portugal and is known for its port wine and historic architecture. Once you arrive in Porto explore the Ribeira District. This area is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and is known for its narrow winding streets, beautiful colorful buildings, and vibrant atmosphere. Walk along the riverfront promenade and enjoy some cafes and restaurants.
Then head to the Livraria Lello which is one of the most beautiful bookstores in the world. It has a Grand Staircase and stained-glass skylights and is a must-see. This bookstore is said to have inspired J.K. Rowling when she wrote the Harry Potter series.
After exploring the Livraria Lello bookstore head to the Clerigos Tower which offers panoramic views of Porto and is an iconic landmark.
End the day by enjoying some Port Wine and enjoying a dinner in the Douro River.
Start your last day in Porto by visiting some historic and cultural sites like the Palacio da Bolsa, the Chruch of Sao Francisco, the Serralves Museum of Contemporary Art, and more.
